From Contemporary to Classical: My Evolution

My journey began after many years of my own personal practice over 20 years ago. In early 2008, I was drawn to teach Pilates. I eagerly began one of several Pilates teacher training programs to follow. I had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and mastery of this modality. Enlightened by first and second-generation teachers, directly connected to Joseph Pilates himself, my path became clear. My skills had been shaped by thousands of hours, years of hands-on experience and commitment to study. Positive benefits of classical Pilates were undeniable.

Deep Roots, Strong Mentors

I feel honored to have learned classical Pilates from several distinguished teachers. Their collective wisdom has profoundly shaped my own teaching and enthusiasm. It continues to inform how I guide my students. I’d like to acknowledge my most respected teachers; Rachel Taylor-Segal and Amy Taylor-Alpers of The Pilates Center. Mejo Wiggin of The Pilates Syllabus©. Sonje Mayo, a first-generation teacher and internationally recognized authority on scoliosis and osteoporosis. My unwavering focus on the original classical Pilates was further inspired by the accurate work of Kathy Ross-Nash. She is exceptionally talented and the creator of ‘The Red Thread of Pilates©.’

Always a Student First

Exercise has always been one of my deep passions. My classical Pilates teaching background is also influenced with my interest in optimal health. I studied corrective exercise through NASM-CES, along with specialized certifications in neurological Pilates, pre/post-natal, osteoporosis-safe protocols, Pilates for golf, Pilates for runners and more. I have also been Stages Cycle Certified and love bringing Pilates principles onto the spin bike and into daily life activities.

What I Bring to You

I don’t just teach Pilates, it plays a major part in my healthy lifestyle. I enjoy the way classical Pilates keeps my body well aligned and balanced in all my other activities. Classical Pilates is never boring, and please don’t expect to hold a pose in this work. We never stop mindfully moving. We increase the challenge as we progress through the exercises.

I’m here to share this exciting method with you. I aim to preserve the legacy of ‘Contrology’ (named by Joseph Pilates). The organized order of this method makes sense, refreshing both the mind and body.

The six fundamental principles of Pilates, which guide the practice, are: concentration, control, center, breath, precision and flow. These principles work together to create a mind-body connection, enhance movement, and promote overall well-being.
